ThingsRecon
Cyber risk intelligence

Founded in 2023, ThingsRecon is a cyber risk intelligence provider helping security teams gain continuous visibility into their external attack surface and digital supply chain. By surfacing hidden assets and mapping how third parties are connected to an organisation, ThingsRecon delivers a proximity-based view that helps teams act on the exposures closest to their core systems.

The challenge

ThingsRecon operates in a fast-paced and very competitive cyber security space, delivering attack surface management and supply chain security solutions in an increasingly threatened third-party and infrastructure-facing market. The challenge was to raise brand awareness in the UK and European markets and establish the leadership team at ThingsRecon as trusted commentators on cyber risk and resilience.

The strategy

Context provided an ‘always on’ PR service that integrated quick-response commentary with thought leadership content.

A big part of Context’s strategy was proactive newsjacking where comments were placed in the news media in response to emerging cyber-attacks and breaches. In this way, ThingsRecon remained top in all news headlined with cyber risk.

Alongside media comments, Context began creating a series of byline articles and interviews with a focus on cyber risk at a board level, digital supply chains, Incident Response (IR) pressure, and a shift in focus from technology threats to impact.

Press releases were used to mark key milestones such as a product launch in supply chain security, expansion of a partnering programme, or new research on cyber-hygiene.

“In a competitive cybersecurity market, our differentiator is the credibility and technical authority of our founding team. Context helped us consistently place ThingsRecon in the right conversations, from rapid response to strategic board-level thought leadership, establishing our subject matter experts as trusted voices on supply chain and attack surface risk. The quality of placements has significantly elevated our profile in key markets.”
